The new General Manager
With us for six months now but only recently officially appointed as General Manager and Managing Director of the commercial area, Maurilio Pace has chosen to accept the challenge of supporting Alberto in defining business development strategies, a choice that, as he reveals in the interview below, combines the professional experiences gained in different phases of his career.

Kairos at the Salone del Risparmio 2022
As every year, Kairos wanted to take part in the Salone del Risparmio, which reached its twelfth edition in 2022.
For the institutional and financial advisors, the event, organized by Assogestioni, is always an interesting showcase and an opportunity to present the news and strategies of their business to a large audience both in presence and in streaming.
“Ad un tratto tutto cambia” (At a certain point everything changes): this is the title of the Kairos conference held last May 10 during the first of the three days of Salone and which saw Alberto and Guido both on stage with Diego, in his new role as Head of Wholesale and Institutional Clients, as moderator.
The “point” in question is the one drawn by a simple pencil, which for many years has been the simulacrum of a savage globalization. Main character of the famous “I, Pencil” written by Read and then reinterpreted by Milton Friedman, the pencil represented, until recently, all the magic of the free market and global capitalism, capable of taking components from every corner of the planet and finding the way to assemble them together and create an object sold all over the world for a few cents. A line, the one drawn by the pencil, that in recent years and months, has come to a point. The pencil has broken, blunted, has shown all its fragility, leaving behind a trail of social inequalities, union struggles, coups d’état, environmental pollution, deforestation and so on and so forth.
As anticipated by the subtitle of the conference “When an economic-social system shows its limits, it is time to evolve the models of thought and redesign the market”, change is the key theme that finance and politics have to face today.
A dynamic, the one that has recently come to fruition, also thanks to the pandemic event, which Guido knows very well (and had somehow visionary foreseen) and which he wanted to deepen in his latest book “Dimmi cosa vedi tu da lì” (Tell me what you see from there) published in April, from which the conference freely took inspiration.
An eloquent and contemporary analysis that is naturally also reflected in the investment choices that Kairos undertakes on a daily basis, through the enhancement of human capital, small businesses, support for the Italian cultural heritage and a careful eye towards ecological and social sustainability criteria, aiming to the so-called “good finance”, investing all the available resources to contribute to a solid economic growth of the country system.

YZK: the Kairos Junior Training Programme continues
The first session of YZK, the training course launched this year in collaboration with Università Cattolica and the CeTIF research center for the junior community of Kairos, ended on April 22.
What was in effect an experiment turned out to be a successful initiative, with very positive feedback from the young students involved. Giorgio, Carlo and Carmine spent ten intense weeks with us, having the opportunity to gain experience in the field and touch with hand the dynamics of the management room, in a moment made even more challenging by the delicate situation experienced by the markets.
A special thanks therefore goes to the trading floor that was able to welcome them in the best possible way, putting the guys at ease in a stimulating environment as only Kairos’ laboratory can be.
In addition to a diploma, given to them at the end of the course during the closing ceremony, the students take home a rich expertise that we hope will positively influence their future professional choices, guiding them in the complex world of finance and, in particular, the one of asset and wealth management.
We wanted to say goodbye to the boys by recording a video to collect feedback from this experience directly from their voices and, why not, test their nerves in front of our cameras (The video is available only in Italian).
We take this opportunity to announce the start of the second training session, launched on May 9th and which will end at the beginning of July. The baton now passes to 4 new young freshmen.

Kairos together with the Rava Foundation in the “Palla al centro” project
With the reopenings after the pandemic, last April 2 was finally the day to complete the “Palla al centro” (literally “Ball on the centre spot”) initiative, part of our EnSiGn project, which we anticipated in the January issue: a” delegation” of colleagues took part in painting some spaces of the Cesare Beccaria Juvenile Penal Institute in Milan.
In two groups, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, the colleagues put on their working overalls and armed themselves with rollers and paint, side by side with the prisoners and the volunteers of the Rava Foundation under the guidance of professional painters. This created an opportunity to chat with the boys, not only addressing everyday topics, but also delicate issues such as the reasons that led them to prison.
Sharing lunch was also a further opportunity for relationships, which allowed colleagues to get even closer to the personal sphere of the young people, who opened up to dialogue and discussion.
It was an experience full of emotion that left a mark on each of the participants, clearly different according to their experience and sensitivity. At the same time it was an opportunity to team up in a context that is different from everyday office life and to meet again after the long period of the pandemic.

On 16 May the Rava Foundation, in the person of Mariavittoria Rava, Francesco Perrini, Director of the Juvenile Justice Center for Lombardy, and Fabrizio Rinaldi, Director of IPM Cesare Beccaria, officially presented the project to the authorities, first of all to the Minister of Justice Marta Cartabia.
The agenda included several interventions, such as the one of Letizia Moratti, Vice President of the Lombardy Region and Councilor for Welfare, all under the same goal: to sensitize the Community on the issue of youth discomfort with a view to prevention, prejudices, contrasting the isolation and stigmatization of young people who have entered the criminal circuit, for their future social and work inclusion, creating a bridge between the inside and the outside, in synergy with institutions, companies, universities and volunteers.
For Kairos, represented by CEO Alberto, it was an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment, which will soon take further new forms.
In this regard, we report a message from Alberto:
“I am firmly convinced that this type of initiatives can help not only the path of personal growth of each one of us, but contribute to creating shared values and objectives that must be the basis of our way of working, together, every day. For this reason, I would like to invite everyone to join with enthusiasm the next solidarity projects that we would like to develop, so that even our small gestures can make a difference”.
